Improvement of peaceful coexistence and safe spaces for young people, Honduras

The project aims to sustainably encourage the active participation of youngsters in the revitalization and use of safe spaces in the communities so as to promote peaceful coexistence and the social, political and economic integration of young people. Fichtner provides technical assistance to SEDECOAS-FHIS during implementation of the project within a program for the establishment of social infrastructure for young people, financing and co-financing of youth work and staff training of the institutions involved, the selected communities and quarters, as well as consultancy services. The project is developed in two phases: Preparation and Implementation.

Technical data

  • Target group: Adolescents and young adults between 12 and 30 years of age who live in communities with high levels of violence
  • Project sites: Santa Rosa de Copán (65,200 inhabitants; 53.4 homicides/100,000 inhabitants), Juticalpa (354,900 inhabitants; 75.2 homicides/100,000 inhabitants), Intibucá and La Esperanza (73,000 inhabitants, 25.4 homicides/100,000 inhabitants)
